AHMAD HASSAN'S MACROPAD

Process of making:

I created this macropad using 8 switches, 1 rp2040, 1 oled display, 1 rotary encoder switch and 8 leds. This was my first hardware project and I enjoyed making it. In this project I used KiCad for designing the PCB which involved several steps including making the schematic and then designing and routing the PCB. As for the Case I used Fusion360. Lastly, I used kmk firmware for the keyboard’s Firmware. Overall the experience of using all softwares was quite smooth. The only time I did run into issues were when for example finding the correct symbol and footprint for the SK6812MINI-E and fixing the dimensions in the 3d model. Both of which I fixed.

Firmware:

I used the kmk Firware for the entire keyboard.
  • The Rotary Encoder changes volume. Pressing it wouldmute.
  • The 8 keys currently are used for different purposes but mainly 4 of them are arrow keys other contain print screen, delete, mute mic and close camera.
  • The OLED is
  • I might change features in future but that's it for now.

    BOM:

  • 1x XIAO RP2040
  • 8x SK6812 MINI-E Leds
  • 8x Cherry MX Switches
  • 8x DSA Keycaps
  • 9x 1N4148 DO-35 Diodes.
  • 1x 0.91" 128x32 OLED Display
  • 1x EC11 Rotary Encoder Switch
  • 4x M3x16 Bolt
  • 4x M3 Heatset
  • 1x Case (2 printed parts - Top Case and Bottom Case)
