The names of these birds are based on pseudonyms used for unidentified people.  This was done to show how the experience of these finches is universal and not specific to them or the story. y. 

Finu Lenu: main character, name is based on "Fnu" and "Lnu," (first name unknown,  last name unknown.)  wn.)  

The exchange between Finu and Fatima represents the desire of the working person versus the promises of money.  Fatima is less of a character and more of a symbol. l.
