Simple Semantics is a minimal, text-driven decision game about meaning, interpretation, and responsibility.
You do not speak directly to the world — you rule through interpretation..
In this game, words matter, but not always in the way you expect.
You play as the Queen.
Non-player characters (NPCs) bring you messages — requests, prophecies, warnings, or advice.
These messages are not instructions. They are open to interpretation.
The system works on a simple but tricky idea:
- NPCs send messages
- You interpret those messages
- The Queen takes action
- Coins are rewarded based on interpretation logic, not moral correctness
Even if:
- The message was misunderstood X
- The action taken was not what the NPC “meant” X
You may still gain coins, because:
- The Queen acted decisively
- Or the fault lies in interpretation, not intention
Likewise:
- You may correctly understand a message
- But the Queen’s action may still lead elsewhere
Meaning is unstable. Authority is final.
- Read the message presented by an NPC.
- Interpret what you think it means.
- Make a decision as the Queen, not as yourself.
- Observe the outcome.
- Gain coins — not because you were right, but because you ruled.
There is no single correct path.
The game rewards interpretation, not obedience..
- Coins are not a morality score
- Coins are tied to decisions made by the Queen
- Correct interpretation ≠ correct outcome
- Incorrect interpretation ≠ failure
The Queen’s authority stands even when meaning breaks.
