Reviewer notes and pre-screening for Hack Club fraud team and project reviewers

Important

This pre-screening message is only relevant for YSWS reviewers or the Hackclub fraud team. If that does not apply to you, please continue to download Elapsed!

Hello! My name is Jupiter (Lamparter), and I'm very pleased that you are taking interest in / reviewing my project!!

I strongly recommend skim-reading Elapsed's README.md file before reading this document, as it will give a better understanding of what Elapsed is, as well as context for some of the concepts I'm about to introduce in this document. If you have any questions about reviewing Elapsed, please contact @Lamparter on Slack, or send a message in the #elapsed channel.

Before you get to review my project, Elapsed, I need to make something absolutely clear about the true amount of hours spent on this project - the total on Hackatime is wrong because I have submitted/will submit this project to two YSWS programmes. Those YSWS programmes are Campfire Flagship (a game hackathon in Los Angeles, from the 20th to 22nd of February 2026) and Hackclub: The Game (an event in New York City, from the 22nd to 25th of May 2026).

TL;DR: if you are a HCTG reviewer, I have spent 38 hours LESS than what the HCTG website says on this project; if you are a Campfire Flagship reviewer, I have spent ONLY 38 hours on this project.

Elapsed is an free, cross-platform client for Lapse, written in C# (.NET). The Elapsed project, as of writing, has THREE main parts:

  • The app itself: the cross-platform client
  • The CLI programme: a fully-functional cross-platform CLI that demonstrates the Lapse API projection
  • The Lapse API projection: a generator that turns the Lapse OpenAPI JSON file into production-ready C# client

The app itself is being created for the Hackclub: The Game programme and no other YSWS programmes. The CLI programme was mostly created for Campfire Flagship and is being polished for Hackclub: The Game (but is feature complete and a finished product). The Lapse API projection was also mostly made for Campfire Flagship, and may receive updates during Hackclub: The Game (however the Lapse API projection is also a finished product, so there probably won't be many updates).).

The app itself, as well as the CLI programme, are available in the Elapsed repo and are registered to Hackatime under the project named "Elapsed". The Lapse API projection can be found in the Advanced Compiler Services for .NET repo and is registered to Hackatime under the project named "CompilerPlatform".

I attended the in-person Campfire Flagship hackathon in Los Angeles in February 2026. In total, I had to publish 115 hours precisely (for qualification, stipends, etc.) for Campfire Flagship. Approximately 77 of those hours went towards another, completely separate project. That leaves 38 hours left, which is a gap that Elapsed nicely filled, by building both the API projection and the CLI programme.e.

As of right now, the total counter for the hours spent towards Elapsed is: (the left clock is the Elapsed repo, and the right clock is the Advanced Compiler Services for .NET repo)

Elapsed Advanced Compiler Services for .NET

If you total both clocks, and then subtract 38, you will find the total amount of hours submitted to HACK CLUB: THE GAME.

If you subtract 77 from 115, which is 38, you will find the total amount of hours submitted to CAMPFIRE FLAGSHIP.

I am NOT double dipping Elapsed with any other YSWS programme.

Thank you for reading this document and hopefully it answers all your questions!

You can now continue to the actual Elapsed demo, which is available for download via GitHub releases. Optionally, you can download Elapsed from a marketplace or build the app from source.

If you're a Campfire Flagship reviewer, you should be looking for the Elapsed CLI. The easiest way to install the Elapsed CLI is by installing as a .NET tool, which you can do like so::

dotnet tool install -g Riverside.Elapsed.CommandLine

The above step requires having the .NET SDK installed.

If you can't install the Elapsed CI as a .NET tool, you should download and extract the appropriate archive for the Elapsed CLI from the latest release (the archive is usually titled CommandLine or similar). Inside the extracted folder you should find Riverside.Elapsed.exe, which can be invoked via the terminal in the extracted directory. You can then make requests with the Lapse API through the Lapse API projection. The CLI is very self-explanatory, and appending -?, -h or --help on any command will show a help guide.

Otherwise, if you're a Hackclub: The Game reviewer, you should be looking for the Elapsed app itself. You can download Elapsed from an app store marketplace (if it is available), or via GitHub Releases. At the time of writing, the app itself is not published to any app store marketplaces, so you must download and extract the appropriate archive ((desktop for the desktop build, android for the Android build, and ios for the iOS build) from the latest GitHub release.

  • For the desktop build, you should find the executable Riverside.Elapsed.App.exe inside the directory. It can be invoked directly to start the app.
  • For the android build, you should find the app package Riverside.Elapsed.App.apk inside the directory. You should copy it to your Android device or install it via the ADB interface.
  • Due to restrictions by Apple, the CI workflow cannot package iOS/iPadOS builds (they would be useless anyway as you cannot sideload apps on iOS devices). You must build from source if you would like to demo the iOS version of the app.

Please do not reject Elapsed if you run into issues. Instead, contact @Lamparter on Slack or send a message in the #elapsed public channel.

Thanks, Jupiter (Lamparter) 🫡

PS: See you in NYC if you're a HCTG admin, else, it was really great to meet you in Santa Monica!
