3D-printed replacement cycle cap

alt text image image

I have an indoor exercise cycle at home. When we relocated to a different city, the packers and movers lost the one of the cap for the metal leg in the base. Now the cycle rocks even with a little nudge, making it hard and not comfortable while using it. Since I had the other part (which was also slightly damaged and deformed) and it was a simple enough part, I decided to use my Fusion360 skills to 3D print an alternative part!

Below is the image of the leg without the cap, and the other remaining cap.

After tediously and carefully taking a bunch of measurements with my trusty calipers, I came up the with the following sketch in Fusion 360. I used some new types of sketch tools, like construction lines, arcs (specifically center point arcs), and circular patterns for the little outward notches in the cap.

After some more measurements, this time in another dimension, I ended up with the final part ready for printing! Oh, I forgot to mention that I also added a few fillets for easy fitting and aesthetics.

Thanks for looking at my project! :)
