SOM Utils

A browser extension that adds useful features and stats to Summer of Making site.

Compatible with both Chrome, Firefox and Safari!

Features

  • Vote Estimation: Estimates how many votes your projects received based on shells and hours
  • Leaderboard Rank: Shows your current rank and economy percentage next to shell count
  • Devlogs per hour: Useful stat while you're voting
  • AI Detection: Detects potential AI-generated content in devlogs and projects during voting
  • Multi-Quantity Goals: Add multiple quantities (1-99x) of shop items to goals with progress tracking
  • Shells/Hour Display: Shows efficiency metrics on project cards with smart badges
  • Sorting: Sort projects by:
    • Most/Least Hours worked
    • Most/Least Shells earned
    • Best/Worst Efficiency (shells/hour)
    • Alphabetical (A-Z, Z-A)
  • Paste Files for devlogs: Paste images/files directly into devlogs!
  • Personalized Time Estimates: Uses your efficiency data for accurate estimates
  • Goal Tracking System: Add shop items to goals and track progress
  • Advanced Stats: Interactive calculators and efficiency comparisons

Installation

Chrome

Option 1: Chrome Web Store

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click "Add to Chrome"
  3. Confirm the installation when prompted

Option 2: Load Unpacked

  1. Download the extension files from releases
  2. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/
  3. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right
  4. Click "Load unpacked"
  5. Select the extension folder

Firefox

Option 1: Chrome Web Store

  1. Visit the Mozilla Addons
  2. Click "Add to Firefox"
  3. Confirm the installation when prompted

Option 2: Load Temporarily

  1. Open Firefox and go to about:debugging
  2. Click "This Firefox"
  3. Click "Load Temporary Add-on"
  4. Select the manifest_v2.json file

Safari

  1. Click the releases on here and get firefox release
  2. Unzip what you just downloaded
  3. Open Safari and do CMD + ,
  4. Go to settings and check the checkbox saying Show features for web developers
  5. Go to the developer tab
  6. Check the Allow unsigned extensions checkbox at the bottom
  7. Click Add temporary extension
  8. Select the folder you downloaded & unzipped earlierlier
