Blog That Totally Exists

Third project for the Athena Awards. This time featuring a totally real blogging website.

The gist of this project, albeit done very quickly, was sort of trying to emulate websites from early internet? Or someone who had very basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. So a very basic interface, alongside a very choppy background, and, assuming this blog website is on a platform similar to neocities, a bunch of web badges to show off some of the interests of the hypothetical author (the family guy one is a joke).

Speaking of web badges, they're taken from Web Badges World. They have a ton of them there. You can also find many other web badges across places like neocity and spacehey, if you're interested.

Another inspiration is the videogame Hypnospace Outlaw, where the aesthestics of 90s and early 00s internet is pretty much the entire game. The game is about being a moderator for a web service, HypnOS, and all blogs featured have a real ameteur feel to them. The team behind that game did a great job replicating early internet, me feels.

Since the coding for all of this is really simple, there wasn't much of challenge except HOW the webpage should look, especially the background. First I decided to make it a photo of outer space, but when that really didn't seem to suit it, I just switch over to a background that is just a giant smiley face. It fits with the color scheme, and also fits in with the ameteur feel but I may be wrong.

Overall this project took 1h 10m 52s.
