AI-CHAN PLATFORMER (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ *** 0. what this is This is a basic platformer (so you can move around and jump) inspired by the game Honkai Impact 3rd. (mihoyo allows this as long as it's not commercial) The main character, Ai-chan is a character from there. I made it to learn about using Raylib, but it took way longer than I expected ;-; *** 1. how to play All instructions are ingame but. Run the file first. Press H to advance dialogue. Press A and D to move left and right. Press H to jump! Avoid the red. Walljumping works by sliding on a wall and then pressing the JUMP key. Note that walljumping pushes you in the opposite direction from the wall for 1 second, within which you cannot move in the other direction (unless you bounce off another wall). This may seem strange but is intentional. If any part of the game seems impossible, watch the video. It is edited so that it isnt so long, but it shows the full game. *** 2. how i made this This game was made in Raylib using C. You can look at the files to see exactly how, and I'm going to write a blog post at some point. I wrote it using Vim to edit the files and stuff. No AI was used. *** 3. license So this has the GPLv3 license on it. i added the license and stuff but i'm too lazy to actually add it to all the source files. Note that the art is NOT covered by the GPL (because I lost the files with the layers lmao) and also uh given this is a fangame of hi3 you probably shouldn't use the dialogue if you're selling something. idk if i can even gpl license this but it's probably fine a copy of the gpl license is in the "LICENSE.txt" file i think, as said it does NOT apply to art i dont care what you do with the art lmao do whatever *** 4. why i made this <<<<<<< HEAD I made this because I heard about Raylib and thought it sounded pretty cool, so I thought I would try to make something simple in it. uhh it's really hard to use tbh so it took me ages *** 5. extra info because i really don't want my project to be rejected So when I made this for the first time I just started working on it, and then it got really broken somehow. That's what main.c is, it's the old broken version. Yeah so then I restarted with planning my project and it went way better. *** 6. context on the story So yeah it's an hi3 fangame kind of. Ai-chan is an AI. uh Roza and Lili are like characters. There is no context tbh hi3 is kind of insane at points sob, but i thought this would be funny (also im kinda obsessed with hi3 tbh) ======= So I learned about raylib, and i thought it sounded really really cool! Because of this, I decided to make a basic game in it. I also wanted to do more C stuff because I think C is a really cool and pretty language. It's an hi3 fangame because I really love hi3 and also mhy lets people do that *** 5. how to run the project yourself So honestly i kinda forget how i got this to run, so i would suggest just checking out the raylib instructions. It was kinda hard ig but it's really just like compiling it and including the raylib library, windows is just confusing. https://github.com/raysan5/raylib/wiki/ <-- this is the wiki for it As for how the project is structured, there's like a bunch of code in files idk and like they run functions (look im a bit tired). It's important to note that main.c is NOT part of the game. it's the old broken version i left in just in case. Here are the files that are actually part of the program: game.h main_v2.c player.c level.c level_data.h physics.c startgame.c endscreen.c bossfight.c and then all of the images of course!! i dont want to be rejected plspls i would add the commands but there's so many and they're different everywhere sob on windows you have to install so much *** 6. "Tech stack" look im just going through all of the horizons readme guide, i'm really terrible at these. apparently this means "programs/frameworks/languages used" Programs: I edited the files in Vim, and drew the art in either aseprite or the premium art software MS paint otherwise known as paint.exe or something like that. But like the windows 10 version because windows 11 is really bad and also would kill my computer. Additionally i used some windows version of gcc to compile the project, and I used Firefox to look at docs for stuff (this seems overly detailed but i really dont want to get rejected) Frameworks: I dont own a framework, my laptop is from lenovo Languages: English and German, although when i tried to get gettext to work apparently it thinks i want japanese (the language is C, and if it counts as a framework i guess raylib is that) *** 7. "How it was made" once again just going through the guide sob,,, i dont want to get my project rejected from horizons,,,, Ok so I was like "lets make a platformer in c using raylib. im so smart itll be easy trust." Then i went and made a main.c and wrote a bunch of code and it was really broken. So then I was like "ok chat (me) this is not working lets restart" and i wrote down how I would structure the program. Also I went to some godot thing I made and copied all of the moving around logic. tyty godot starter template lmao And THEN i was like "ok lets get programming" and programmed a bunch. I kinda forget what thoughhh After that I was like "oh fuck it doesnt work"?? and then turns out i wrote "variable == 0;" somewhere instead of "variable = 0;" and then everything went really well except for when i spent 1 hr drawing a total of 270 pixels sob i swear im good at programming im just not good at readmes ok?? *** 8. how the program is structured and stuff so uhh the levels are all stored as a bunch of platforms that are manually added im sure this will not be an issue at all. also the dialogues. i like C though it's pretty (i think i said this already) yeah i think it's all mostly self-explanatory... there's some german though lmao i thought it would be funny *** 9. "screenshots" so this is a text file. that means no screenshots but INSTEAD I can describe it to you totally So like imagine you open the game. Then there's like a blue background and a white rectangle at the bottom that has a picture and some text in it. then a random girl whose hair looks like a thing of cabbage starts yapping at you. other fake screenshot: there's like a blue background and a green floor. In 2d (this is all very small too because it is only 640x480 pixels big). Then there is a little character. in PIXEL ART. and there's like animation and stuff!! Wow so realistic how very good screenshots (i like the aesthetics of text READMEs ok?? also all the stuff i have downloaded uses a text README so they must be good ig) (also there should be a file in the code (not the game download) that says "screenshot.png" and it's a screenshot) *** 10. end please enjoy my game sorry for the insane readme - parking_turkeys, 2026 me - parking_turkeys, 2026 (not the game download) that says "screenshot.png" and it's a screenshot) *** 10. end please enjoy my game sorry for the insane readme - parking_turkeys, 2026
