Beneath The Surface Error 404
404: Beneath The Surface
The interface looks familiar.
A clean desktop.
A working browser.
Your favorite websites.
Everything feels normal.
Until it doesn’t.
What Is This?
404: Beneath The Surface is a real-time multiplayer psychological web horror game where players compete inside a simulated macOS environment to uncover secrets hidden deep within broken websites.
This is not just a game about browsing.
It’s about digging deeper.
The Experience
Up to 30 players join a private room using a code.
The host starts a 15-minute investigation.
Each player receives five encrypted questions connected to a mysterious digital conspiracy known only as Project Echo .
The answers are not visible on the page.
They are hidden beneath it.
Inside the source code.
As players explore realistic clones of familiar platforms, the system begins to destabilize. Pages flicker. Screens glitch. Websites crash into cryptic 404 errors.
When that happens, a new option appears:
View Source.
Only those who inspect the hidden HTML comments will uncover the truth.
Every correct answer earns points.
Wrong answers cost you.
The leaderboard updates in real time.
Time is limited.
The deeper you look, the more unsettling the system becomes.
Beneath The Surface
The internet shows you what it wants you to see.
Behind every interface lies another layer —
code, metadata, hidden messages, surveillance trails.
This game explores that invisible layer.
The surface is polished.
The truth is buried.

Beneath the surface.
