It's a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W kit I won from Daydream Seattle with a Waveshare HAT and a custom 3D printed case. It's a NAS, backup service manager, air quality monitor, and a general purpose server - all controlled by a custom C-written display binary.\n\nThe top button is the overview page. This shows some basic stats as you can see here. Holding this button refreshes the page.\n\nThe second button takes you to the logging page. All backup scripts and custom services on the device log to this file which is viewable here. Holding this button clears the log.\n\nThis joystick is used to sleep the device. Switching to any menu or clicking the button again will wake the screen back up.\n\nLastly, this third button simply turns off the device.\n\nNow, let's talk Nix. This device is running a custom NixOS flake I built with spi, gpio and i2c support. The device runs a few scripts every day to back up both my GitHub repositories and my Spotify music to the attached USB drive.\n\nThese services are super helpful since my desktop shell has a popup which notifies me every week to sync the data from the homelab. This sync script grabs all the Spotify music from the homelab's SAMBA NAS share and stores it locally.\n\nWhat's cool is that I also have a built-in MPD player in my shell to listen to this synced Spotify music, so this homelab is helping me reduce bandwidth usage - especially when syncing from my other Linux devices. And that NAS is accessible through my file manager so I can access all the files on the Homelab's attached drive.\n\nThis AQI database file is where the readings from my Nova PM SDS011 sensor is stored. During the fire season, this sensor scans the indoor air quality and sends it to the homelab. The homelab saves it in this database and makes it locally accessible on this website.\n\nHere, you can see the air quality history and compare them to other local readings from AirNow.gov. I've also set up Avahi so the local URL is easily accessible.\n\nMy mini low power homelab connects all my Linux devices. It's easy to manage with this nice display and helps us stay safe when the air quality is poor. I can't wait to make more services for my homelab to make it even more useful.","duration_seconds":144.54,"engagement":{"likes":1,"views":81},"extractor":"youtube","media":{"audio_codec":"aac","bitrate_kbps":2578.37,"content_type":"video/mp4","extension":".mp4","format":"299 - 1920x1080 (1080p60, WEB-E)+251 - audio only (medium, WEB-E)","format_id":"299+251","fps":60.0001383767029,"height":1080,"quality_label":"1920x1080","size_bytes":46584705,"video_codec":"h264","width":1920},"media_type":"video","platform":"youtube","post_id":"gDqwrOC8o_o","provenance":"native","provider":"yt-dlp","publication_timestamp":"2026-02-02T01:58:27Z","schema_version":"1","source_url":"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDqwrOC8o_o","subtitles":[{"artifact_suffix":".sub.en-orig.vtt","format":"vtt","kind":"auto","lang":"en-orig","size_bytes":21231,"storage_key":"BsZzr/yt-dlp-201a9e2c.sub.en-orig.vtt"},{"artifact_suffix":".sub.en.vtt","format":"vtt","kind":"auto","lang":"en","size_bytes":21231,"storage_key":"BsZzr/yt-dlp-201a9e2c.sub.en.vtt"}],"tags":["minecraft"],"title":"Homelab AQI, NAS, Custom display project","transcript":{"lang":"en-orig","source":"auto","text":"This is my home lab.
